Venice, “La Cité des Doges”, will welcome its 31st marathon on October the 23rd 2016.
Founded shortly after 568, the city is famous for its canals, unique means of transportation. Its whole lagoon is registered on the UNSECO world heritage since 1987, and this contributes to the particulariyy of this course.
With a depature at 25 km from western Venice, this plan will allow you to discover the center of Mestre and Marghera, before reaching the Sérénissime by the famous Bridge of Liberty. This race will make you discover the main buildings of the old city since you will run along the lido, will cross the famous Place St Marco, in front the Palace of the Doges, the Basilica St Marc and Campanile, emblems of Venice.
You will also follow the Grand Canal and you will have a breathtaking view over the lagoon to the arrival on the Rivages des Sept Martyrs.
Don’t miss to stroll through the labyrinth of the city and discover ancient Venetian palaces in the bend of a maze of alley.
