Copenhagen, literally “The Merchant’s Harbor”, is located on the islands of Seeland and Amager, where the North Sea meets the Baltic Sea, giving the city the typical atmosphere of scandinavian cities. The port, once an important commercial hub, is now geared towards tourism. You can walk along it and admire its beauty or enjoy a beautiful bicycle ride. After all, you are in the most bicycle-friendly city in the world: 400 km of bike paths are available, as well bicycles for free use.
The marathon in Copenhagen is flat, which of course allows best running times. The start and finish are on the waterfront at the Islands Brygge. Afterwards you will discover the city during the run. Passing famous landmarks such as Tivoli, the Little Mermaid, Christiansborg Palace or the Town Hall, it all gives this northern run its unforgettable setting.
This is certainly one of the reasons why the Copenhagen Marathon is becoming more and more popular and now occupies the second place behind the Stockholm Marathon within the nordic countries.
