The big international Marathon of Casablanca is an important sport event, with the goal to share with the largest public as possible the spirit and values of the marathon based on the commitment, the perseverance and the transcendence. This event also has for ambition to bring the inhabitants of Casablanca to support the competitors in their efforts and to appropriate this urban, sporting and festive event as well as social and generational mix.
With a relatively flate course and a clement weather in this period of the year, the marathon of Casablanca is one of the fastets race in the world. It is classed the 1st marathon of Africa in 2010 thanks to the Ethiopian Shumi Gerbaba who etablished a time of 02h09mn03s in 2010.
The course crosses the main streets of the city, in the mythical frame of the heritage of architectural Art deco, big boulevards lined with palm trees, large avenues of the city centre and one part of the ledge overhanging the sea. Exceptional passage in front of the esplanade of the Mosque Hassan II to mention also.
